Tell about an opportunity you had to work one on one with a student:
This week I had the opportunity to work with B. Since I am in a life skills class I am surrounded by the cutest, and the most fun children. B is down syndrome and is in the 1st grade. You can't fully understand most of what he's saying. He does have a few sayings that you can completely understand like "what's up" and "See YA".
I had the opportunity to help in their physical education time and at lunch. During physical ed we were using hula hoops and pretending they were cars. You would have to pick up a hula hoop and drive it around the gym to the music. When the music stopped you had to drop your car and find a new one. It was fun running around with him and helping him out.

Blog Post 1
For my first day at Hillcrest Elementary I was put in Mr. Bogdins Life Skills class because of testing going on in the other classrooms. The topic I chose to write on was "How does knowledge of the way people learn related to the experience of being a teacher?"
While observing the teacher I would think to myself that he was doing something different with each student. He approached B with a more sensitive way when it came to his reading. But when it came to his other student J he was more animated and had to keep her attention.
I saw that he had to change his teaching style to accommodate each child. That is something that I will need to learn how to do. It's like what we learned in class about the 3 different learning types. You have to appeal to all of your students.
