What is the most important thing you have learned during fieldwork observation? Why?
There are so many things that I learned from my fieldwork. I did all 20 of my hours within a Special Needs classroom. This made me realize that I want to one day get a Masters Degree in Special Education. I know that won't happen for a while, and I want to start teaching first but it really opened up my eyes on why I chose this field and why I enjoy it so much. I just love the kids. Being around them makes me so happy and seeing them learn is something that really touches my heart. I know it sounds really sappy but it's true.
Another thing that I learned that I hope to have as a teacher one day is the traits that Mr. Bogden has shown while teaching in his classroom. He just wants to help these children learn. He has so much patience with the kids that I hope I can be that way with my own class. He also has a very fun approach and wants his children to enjoy learning. Everyday that I was in there I felt that he was really interested in bettering each of his students.
I hope that I can encompass all of this qualities as a teacher. I hope to one day have a well rounded classroom where everyone will come and enjoy each day.
Doing this hours really just solidified that this is what I want to do as a career. It really showed me that I want to be a teacher and I can't wait to get my own class. I can't wait to experience the rest of the Elementary Education program has to offer.

What are the school rules/classroom rules and how are they enforced?
In Mr Bogden/Mr Bob's class they have some rules to help the kids feel like they are safe and learning and still having fun. They always are told to keep their hands to themselves. This makes it so the kids are not in each others space and keeps the peace. Another thing that I love with is not really a rule but its something that is implemented in the classroom to promote good behavior. Mr Bob will choose a child to be the line leader- he goes off of whoever was on their best behavior from where they were at.
Another class rule that they have is to always wash their hands or use sanitizer if they touch their mouth or nose. This doesn't have to do as much with the learning aspect but it does keep the germs at bay. Especially with the winter coming and the kids getting sick. They are really good at keeping the classroom clean and as healthy as possible.

Blog Entry 6
What strategies does the teacher use to actively engage the students? How effective are these?
For this blog entry I would like to mention my favorite things that the Teacher I was observing to engage the students was his tone of voice. He always kept it interesting. I never felt like he was boring or monotone. This helped keep the kids on many different levels. Whether it was understand what he was saying or just paying attention. He was entertaining but also teaching these children at the same time.
Another thing that he used was letting the kids take turns to do different activities. They use a smart board in their classroom and to keep the kids engaged he would pick on one who was behaving and paying good attention to come move an item on the smart board, or to click on it. It was cute to see how excited the kids would be to move a picture of a sandwich to calendar to show what they are having for lunch that day. It also kept them engaged and excited.
